Dr. Gaertner is an associate professor of surgery at the university of Minnesota. He completed general surgery residency (including a 3-year research fellowship) and colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He is actively involved in both clinical and translational research. His research interests include colorectal oncology, minimally invasive surgery, peritoneal carcinomatosis, diverticulitis, and the human microbiome.
